Ba defeated Navua 3-0 at Churchill Park in Lautoka yesterday to keep their Digicel Premier League title hopes alive with only a few more matches remaining in the competition.

Savenaca Nakalevu opened the scoring for the Men in Black early in the third minute.

Four minutes later Shameel Rao doubled Ba’s advantage from a penalty kick.

Ba led 2-0 at halftime. Navua was reduced to ten players in the 58th minute after Matthew Charittar copped his second yellow card.

Replacement Sanaila Waqanicakau came off the bench to score the third goal late in the match. Navua coach Amit Prakash said they needed to work on many areas.

He said their defensive pattern was a concern as they were conceding many goals in the competition.

“Ba was a better side on the day,” Prakash said.

“We are a small team in the DPL top flight so we are working hard to survive.”

Ba Football Association president Rynal Kumar said Navua gave them a good run for their money.

He said fatigue proved to be Navua’s biggest downfall as they played Labasa last Friday.
