Despite winning all their matches on day one of the Fiji Airways Mini International Women’s 7s tournament, the Black Ferns 7s side lost to France in an entertaining encounter at Albert Park yesterday.
The women from New Zealand lost to France 19-26 but managed to beat Australia 10-7 and the Fijiana 19-5.
Meanwhile, the Fijiana managed to beat Australia 28-19 on day two of competition.
Fijiana 7s coach Saiasi Fuli said there were a lot of positives to take from the two-day event.
“We have managed to highlight the work on for next week,” he said.
“It’s good to be playing against top teams especially when we have an extended squad of 26 and we have managed to roll out all the players in the past two days.
“There is a lot of learning but we will continue to work hard and build from next week.”
The second leg of the tournament will be played at Lautoka’s Churchill Park next Friday and Saturday.
