Lautoka defeated Malolo 32-12 in the Vodafone Vanua Championship at the Nadovu Park yesterday.

This was the Maroons’ second win in the competition after losing to Navosa 16-13 last week.

Lautoka Rugby Union secretary Sefanaia Scholte said they improved after working on their mistakes from the last game against Navosa.

“There are some technical areas that we need to work on,” he said.

Meanwhile the Ivamere Tabuwadei skippered Navosa defeated Serua 64-22 in the Royal Tea Ranadi Championship at the Ratu Navula College ground in Nadi.

Yasawa team coach Taione Ratu said it was a good win after the first round because they were chasing for the top spot on the points table.

“We were pushing for a bonus point win but could not get it,” he said. “It was a good effort from the players for the win.

“However we could have done better by scoring more tries.

“We squandered opportunities as the players got carried away. Wrong decision making cost us. We need to work a lot on that area. Nadi coach Kaminieli Tuiwasa said despite losing to Yasawa, there was a big improvement to the performance of the team.

“Before they could not play full-time rugby but with their performance today there is big improvement.”

In the Marama Cup fixture Malolo defeated Ba 35-22 at the Nadovu Park in Lautoka.
