Players will get a second chance to impress selectors to make the national Under-21 camp when the Digicel Punjas National Netball Championships begins today.
Fiji will take part at the World Youth Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2025 and a National Academy will start next week in preparation for the event.
Players for the academy have been selected from the Fiji Secondary Schools Netball Championship.
However, Netball Fiji CEO Vivian Koster says selection is still open.
“Selectors will have their eyes on the 19 and under category as players from the outer islands and inland, especially those from the boarding schools, will have an opportunity to put their hands up for selection,” Koster said.
She added the players in the academy will represent Fiji in the qualifiers in the Cook Islands next year.
“Fiji has already qualified for the World Youth Championship as we finished in the top four last time around. We will still take part in the qualifiers for the girls to have some game time against quality opponents.”
The core of the team to the Cook Islands will then represent Fiji at the youth championship.
