Tiko: Fiji is like a ‘time bomb’

Fiji is like a “time bomb” now with complaints and frustration from members of the public, says New Generation Party acting leader Varinava Tiko.

Mr Tiko said the onus was on the next political party that comes into power to manage these issues.

“If a new party comes into power and doesn’t manage the stress and frustration in every way, it will probably be better that the current Government continue,” he said.

“There can be an explosion if this pressure is not addressed properly and I am glad for this opportunity that we can work together as political parties for the sake of humanity.”

Speaking at the Citizens’ Constitutional Forum human rights panel discussion in Suva, Mr Tiko said one only had to go on social media to witness this.

“You only have to look at Facebook to see how people are throwing soil at each other,” he said.

While other political parties are currently campaigning their way to the 2022 elections, Mr Tiko said his newly established party had so much to offer to the people of Fiji.

“People have lost hope and there is not so much constructive talking.”
